Jim Hinton is an Operating Partner on the Healthcare team, having joined WCAS in 2022. Jim has been a leader in the healthcare industry for more than 38 years. Prior to joining WCAS, he was the Chief Executive Officer of Baylor Scott & White Health in Texas, where he strengthened the organization’s patient safety focus, improved employee engagement and drove strong operational performance each year of his tenure. Prior to Baylor Scott & White, Jim spent more than three decades at Presbyterian Healthcare Services, New Mexico’s largest healthcare provider, where he was President and CEO for 21 years.

In 2014, Jim served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the American Hospital Association, which represents nearly 5,000 hospitals, healthcare systems, networks, and other providers of care, through advocacy and public policy. He also chaired the Board of the Healthcare Institute. Among the industry honors he has received, Jim has been named one of the 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare by Modern Healthcare magazine five times, most recently in 2021. He has a B.S. in Economics from the University of New Mexico and a master’s degree in healthcare administration from Arizona State University. A strong community service advocate, Jim has led Boards for many organizations in New Mexico and Texas. He also serves as a mentor to young executives in healthcare organizations. Jim lives with his wife Kristen in Albuquerque, New Mexico. They have four kids, one grandchild and two Labrador Retrievers (Nelson and Roger). When not working, Jim enjoys cycling, hiking and everything outdoors except golf.
