Dr. Taheri is a Clinical Partner on the Healthcare team, having joined in 2019. He focuses on physician governance, leadership development, managing risk, and clinical delivery optimization within our portfolio, helping ensure that WCAS companies deliver outstanding care to the millions of patients they serve each year. Dr. Taheri sits on the Boards of US Anesthesia Partners, Dartmouth Health, Trinity Health, Care Evolution, and The Health Management Academy, a strategic partner of WCAS that provides research, growth support services, knowledge sharing and leadership development to health systems and healthcare companies.
Prior to joining WCAS full-time, Dr. Taheri was the Chief Executive Officer of Yale Medicine (the faculty practice plan for Yale University) and a Deputy Dean for Clinical Affairs at the Yale School of Medicine. He joined Yale Medicine from the University of Vermont (UVM), where he was President and CEO of the UVM Medical Group in Burlington and Senior Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs, as well as a professor of surgery. Prior to Vermont, he was Division Chief of Trauma, Burn and Critical Care and Vice Chair of Surgery at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Dr. Taheri is also the past chair of the Group on Faculty Practices for the Association of American Medical Colleges and an examiner for the American Board of Surgery. He has lectured broadly on various business topics, including cost of care, physician leadership and system optimizations and retains a teaching role at the Yale School of Management.
Dr. Taheri received his bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry at St. Lawrence University, his MD at New York University, and his MBA from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. He completed his surgical residency training at Tulane University in Louisiana. Dr. Taheri lives in Redding Connecticut and enjoys art, fine dining and vacationing with his family in Maine.
